For the 2026–27 heating season, our fall 2026 installed furnace prices range from $4,000 to $5,500 for entry-level systems, $5,000 to $7,000 for mid-range equipment, and $6,500 to $9,000+ for premium options, before HST.

Types of Furnaces: Ottawa Furnace Buying Guide
There are several types of furnaces available in the Ottawa market. Your fuel choice often depends on what is available at your property:
- Natural gas furnaces: A common choice for homes with access to natural gas.
- Electric furnaces: Use electric resistance heat and may serve as backup in a heat pump system.
- Propane furnaces: An option for rural homeowners without natural gas service.
- Oil furnaces: Still found in rural homes, where replacement planning may include a change of heating fuel.

How Much Does a Furnace Cost in Ottawa? (2026–2027)

The ranges overlap because furnace size, features and installation work vary. Home size, insulation, venting, gas line access, ductwork and thermostat requirements affect the final price. Our furnace installation assessment identifies these details before we finalize your quote.
For high-efficiency gas furnaces, compare the selected model’s AFUE rating. Heat pump performance uses different measures, including HSPF2 for seasonal heating efficiency and COP at specified conditions. A hybrid system does not have a single combined AFUE percentage.

Furnace Rebates in Ottawa: November 2026 Update
A standalone gas furnace does not qualify for the Home Renovation Savings heat pump rebate. Compare confirmed heat pump incentives separately from contractor discounts and financing.
Older federal programs: closed intake
The Canada Greener Homes Loan is closed to new applications. Federal-direct Oil to Heat Pump Affordability intake through the Canada Greener Homes portal ended July 31, 2026.
That federal intake closure does not mean all Ontario heat pump assistance has ended. Provincial delivery and current eligibility must be checked separately. Existing applicants should follow the completion rules for their own program.
Available now: HRSP and ComfortSpan furnace hybrids
The Home Renovation Savings Program (HRSP) currently supports qualifying heat pumps. Eligible Enbridge natural-gas-heated homes purchasing a cold-climate air-source heat pump may receive $500 per ton, up to $2,000. The backup furnace itself is not a rebate-eligible measure.

Eligibility depends on the home, existing heating fuel and approved equipment combination. A participating contractor must submit the pre-installation application. Wait for approval before installation; earlier installations are not eligible.

Coming later: National Heat Pump Rebate
The October 8 federal announcement describes up to $10,000 for eligible below-median-income households and $2,000 for other eligible households, with provincial stacking allowed.
The Government of Canada now confirms that households meeting the program’s eligibility criteria that install eligible heat pumps on or after November 1, 2026, will be able to apply when the National Heat Pump Rebate opens in early 2027. This is an installation date, not simply a purchase or booking date. The published rules include natural-gas-heated homes and do not require removing the existing heating system. The heat pump must meet the applicable equipment and whole-home sizing requirements. This does not confirm eligibility for furnace costs or a furnace installed now with a heat pump added later. Funding is not guaranteed until an application is approved; do not deduct an assumed federal rebate from your furnace budget.

Ask about 0% financing on approved credit (OAC) for qualifying equipment and installations. The promotional period, eligible products, fees and rate after the promotion depend on the offer. We can explain the available HVAC financing options with your quote.

When to Replace vs Repair Your Furnace
Is your furnace acting up again? Age, repair history, warranty coverage and the diagnosis should guide your decision. A repair estimate over $800 is worth comparing with replacement, especially on an older furnace, but the amount alone does not determine the best choice.

Do these furnace prices include tax?
No. The listed installed-price ranges are in Canadian dollars before HST and applicable rebates. The written quote should show your home’s installation scope and any exclusions.
Does replacing only my gas furnace qualify for HRSP?
No. HRSP supports eligible heat pump equipment, not a standalone furnace replacement. Compare a furnace-only quote and a qualifying hybrid package on their full installed costs.
Can I install now and claim a heat pump rebate later?
HRSP requires pre-approval before installation. For the National Heat Pump Rebate, households that meet the program’s eligibility criteria and install eligible heat pumps on or after November 1, 2026, will be able to apply when the program opens in early 2027. Eligibility for installing a furnace now and adding a heat pump later is not confirmed in the published federal update. Check the applicable rules before committing to work.
