A practical starting point
Which HVAC system fits your home?
The highest efficiency rating or largest unit is not automatically the right choice. Start with the comfort problem, then check how the new equipment will work with the rest of your home.
| Your project | Where to start |
|---|---|
| Replacing central cooling | Compare a central air conditioner with a heat pump. Review the indoor equipment, ductwork, controls and whether you also want electric heating. |
| Replacing a furnace | Compare furnace options around heating requirements, airflow and sound. Include any planned cooling or heat-pump upgrade in the conversation. |
| Planning a heat pump upgrade | Review ducted, ductless and hybrid heat pump options. Winter heating requirements, electrical capacity and the role of your existing furnace or other backup heat all affect the system design. |
| Improving one room or an addition | Explore ductless mini splits. Capacity, unit placement, drainage and the need for winter heating affect the recommendation. |
| Replacing a water heater | Compare tank, tankless and heat pump water heaters against hot-water demand, fuel or electrical supply, venting and available space. |
| Improving indoor air quality | Match the equipment to the concern: filtration for airborne particles, a humidifier for dry indoor air or an HRV or ERV for fresh-air exchange. Check compatibility with the system already in your home. |
Model availability and suitability are confirmed with your quote. We compare equipment and installation together, so you can see what is included.

Your HVAC product questions
Equipment capacity, compatibility and installation details affect the finished result. These are useful starting points for your comparison.
Choosing your equipment
Which HVAC products does AirZone install?
We supply and install furnaces, heat pumps, central air conditioners, ductless systems, fireplaces, thermostats, indoor air quality equipment, boilers and water heaters. Our advisors help you compare products suited to your home and confirm availability when preparing your quote.
How do you decide which size or system a home needs?
For heating and cooling equipment, we review the home’s requirements rather than simply matching the old unit’s size. We also check ductwork or piping, electrical capacity, available space, controls and installation conditions. Tell us about rooms that are too hot, too cold or hard to keep comfortable.
Should I compare a heat pump when replacing my air conditioner?
Yes. A heat pump provides cooling and can also supply heat. We can compare it with a central air conditioner and review how it would work with your existing furnace, electrical capacity and heating needs.
Can I heat or cool a room without adding ductwork?
Ductless mini splits can serve rooms or areas without a central duct system. We assess the required capacity, indoor unit placement, outdoor location and drainage before recommending a suitable setup.
Planning your installation
What should I compare in an HVAC installation quote?
Compare the equipment models, capacity, controls, installation work, removal of old equipment, start-up and warranty terms. Ask which electrical, venting or piping changes are included. A complete installed quote makes the scope easier to compare.
Do you install equipment outside central Ottawa?
Yes. We serve Ottawa, Kanata, Stittsville, Barrhaven, Nepean, Gloucester, Orleans, Manotick, Greely, Riverside South and Cumberland. Include your property address or postal code when contacting us so we can confirm coverage and the next step.
