Popular Indoor Air Quality Systems for Ottawa Homes

Air Purification

In certain situations ventilation and filtration may not be enough to accomplish the indoor air quality goals in your home or commercial space. There is technology available that can truly purify your air in the home to ensure your family is breathing the cleanest air.  Whether it is a HEPA filter or UV lighting, we offer many different solutions to clean the air you are breathing.

Once we have tested the home and evaluated what may be causing the unwanted air quality issues, we can recommend devices to remedy the problems.  Things like UV lighting can destroy viruses in the air, break up the organic make up of VOCs and deliver you peace of mind that you are keeping your home healthy.

Humidity Control

Humidity control in a residential or commercial space is paramount.  In Ottawa we can have very humid weather in the summer and we can experience cold dry air in the winter. Bacteria, viruses and mould will thrive in certain conditions if humidity is not controlled.

At AirZone HVAC Services we have many different devices that can aid in attaining the optimal humidity levels.

From standard whole home bypass humidifiers to commercial grade steam units, we have devices that can aid in any situation.  Measuring, assessing and remediating humidity issues is an area in which we specialize!

Ventilation

The best way to ensure the indoor air quality in your home is healthy and clean is ventilation. Ventilation can mean anything from a bathroom fan to an advanced ERV system.  Whether your home has high carbon dioxide or VOC chemicals in the air, ventilating the air is truly the best way to combat these problems.  Besides clean indoor air, our HRV and ERV options can also provide you with amazing humidity control in both the summer and the winter.

Using an HRV/ERV can ensure your air quality is improved and can also do so while saving you energy. These ventilation units are perfectly suited to the Ottawa climate, by retaining the heat you have already paid for while bringing fresh air in.

Filtration

Filtering the air in your home/ business is one of the best ways to ensure the air quality in your space is clean and safe.  The days of a flimsy one inch filter are long past and filter technology has advanced rapidly.  From MERV 11 filter boxes that attach to your furnace to HEPA grade bypass filters, AirZone HVAC Services offers a wide range of products to virtually eliminate airborne particulates.

We can help you determine what type of filtration system is not only best for your home but also best for the heating/cooling system.  Once the filter is installed, we can also help you source affordable replacement filters for years to come.

Robust Indoor Air Quality Testing

Ottawa homes have a multitude of indoor air quality issues. We typically see a number of indicators that your home’s air quality may not be at its best.

With our advanced air quality testing we take the guessing out of indoor air quality issues!

Particulates

Particulates in the air are comprised of dust, dander, smoke and even soot. When these particulates enter our air stream they can cause irritation, allergies and illness. Our testing will determine if your air is in need of a filtration system or something to remedy these harmful particulates.

Chemicals

VOC’s are volatile organic compounds. These chemicals that can be found in the air of most homes and have varying short term and longer term repercussions. Identifying if you have high VOC’s allows you to begin the process of identifying and isolating the source. Very often these VOC’s are emitted by household products such as cleaners, adhesives, candles, flooring components or even material used in cabinets.

Carbon Dioxide

Carbon Dioxide in the air is another parameter in which we test for. Many homes are sealed very tight and are not receiving the appropriate amount of air exchanges. This becomes a problem as high CO2 can lead to headaches, dizziness, fatigue and difficulty breathing. Identifying high CO2 levels can allow us to mitigate the issues with ventilation.

Relative Humidy

Our testing also allows us to take a report of the fluctuation of temperature and humidity in the home. As the report can be a short term OR long term report. We can begin to identify trends and help you fine tune your home to ensure comfort year round.

Carbon Monoxide

Carbon Monoxide is often called the silent killer. This odourless, invisible gas is created as a byproduct of combustion. Any gas fire appliance can emit CO into the air. Allow us to ensure your family is safe by conducting an indoor air quality test.

We ATTACK your air quality issues with our six metric approach.

Booking a rental of our air quality machines is a great way to get a baseline picture of your home’s air quality. Our testing takes it further than an over the counter tester. This is because you get an expert opinion on the test! We will help you figure out why the results may be bad and recommend ways to fix them.

Furnace filters may or may not be designed to help with your air quality. Our experts can help you choose a filter that is right for your system and your home.

Depending on what issues you have experienced and what we are testing for will dictate the best timing for a test. Even a 30 minute snapshot will help give you an idea of the air quality. For most homes we recommend the one week rental in order to build a thorough report.

People often ask us if we can test for mould. Unfortunately we are not mould remediation contractors and as a result we do not test for mould.

If you are a home that utilizes a boiler, ductless heat pump or electric baseboards, we can still help! We have many different portable units that can help in your home. We can also still design and install ventilation systems for a house that does not have ductwork.
