For one homeowner in Ottawa’s Hunt Club neighbourhood, a heating and cooling upgrade began with a simple frustration: the air conditioner was making the balcony difficult to enjoy. The homeowner told us the existing unit was so loud that the space had become unusable during the summer. Its size was another concern.
Inside, the older furnace was also noisy, and the homeowner wanted help with dust in the house. Our replacement plan brought those concerns together: a slimmer outdoor air conditioner, a new furnace and an added air cleaner.
This was also a returning customer. We had helped with heating and cooling in their previous homes, and we appreciate their continued trust in our team.

A balcony that shaped the equipment choice
The original Goodman air conditioner occupied a substantial part of the balcony. In this setting, the outdoor unit was close to a space the homeowner wanted to use, so its footprint and operating sound mattered alongside its cooling function.
Mitchell Raine helped design the replacement system around those priorities. We installed a Moovair Maelys air conditioner, giving the balcony a compact, side-discharge unit in place of the old top-discharge cabinet. The before-and-after photographs show the change in shape and placement, with more open floor space around the new installation.
Maelys is a cooling-only air conditioner, paired here with a gas furnace for heating. Its slim configuration made it a practical choice for this project’s balcony setting. The unit sits on a premium raised stand with rubber vibration-damping material to help limit vibration and transmitted noise.

Updating the furnace and filtration together
The indoor work replaced the older Goodman furnace with a Rheem R962V. This model is a two-stage gas furnace with variable-speed airflow and a manufacturer-rated 96% AFUE. It was selected as part of the coordinated heating and cooling replacement, rather than leaving the homeowner’s furnace concerns for a separate project.
We also installed a MACL air cleaner. Filtration was part of the plan from the beginning because the homeowner had raised dust as a concern. Bringing the furnace and air cleaner into the same project allowed us to address heating equipment and filtration together.
We also installed a Wet Switch at the base of the furnace. If water reaches its sensor, it shuts down the connected unit, helping reduce the risk of water damage. With another resident living in the condo unit below, this was an important extra precaution.

A day and a half on site, with follow-through afterward
Cameron Walker, who has worked with AirZone for more than ten years, completed the full installation in a day and a half. The job included the new indoor heating and filtration equipment and the replacement air conditioner on the balcony.
This installation included the Moovair Maelys air conditioner, Rheem R962V furnace, MACL air cleaner and 10-year parts and labour warranty coverage, subject to the applicable coverage terms.
After installation, our office team registered the equipment. The project also included one year of our Family maintenance plan, with a maintenance visit planned around the one-year mark.
What changed for this Hunt Club home
The completed project replaced both aging systems and added filtration while reducing the outdoor unit’s footprint. Our project team reported quieter operation following the upgrade, and the photographs show how the new Maelys makes better use of the balcony space.
The upgrade addressed the issues as one project: balcony space and noise outdoors, with heating and filtration inside.
