Cooling problems

Warm air, weak airflow, ice, leaking water, electrical faults, short cycling or a system that won’t start can call for a diagnostic. We help with air conditioners, heat pumps and ductless cooling.

Diagnostic, repair or maintenance?

Find the cause

Diagnostic service

A technician visits your home, examines the equipment and performs the necessary tests. You receive written findings and a repair quote if work is recommended.

The diagnostic fee covers the technician’s time to visit and investigate. It does not include repair work.

Address the fault

Repair service

Repair work follows the written quote and may involve replacing a part. Pricing is provided before work begins.

If a part is covered by warranty, its cost is deducted from the repair total. After-hours repairs are billed at a higher rate.

Care for working equipment

Maintenance service

Routine service cleans and checks working equipment, including calibration and safe operation. If a problem is discovered, diagnostic or repair work may also be needed.

From $149 per hour, plus HST

Higher rates apply after hours, on statutory holidays and for emergency service. This is a starting hourly rate, not a fixed diagnostic or repair total. Ask our team which rate applies to your appointment.

HVAC service questions

Should I book maintenance or a diagnostic?

Book a diagnostic when your equipment is not heating or cooling properly, leaks, freezes, makes unusual noises or starts unreliably. Maintenance is for working equipment that needs routine cleaning, calibration and safety checks. If a fault is found during maintenance, additional diagnostic or repair service may be needed.

How is a diagnostic visit charged?

Heating and cooling diagnostic service starts from $149 per hour plus HST. Higher rates apply after hours, on statutory holidays and for emergency service. The diagnostic fee covers the technician’s time to visit your home and investigate the issue; repair work is separate. Ask the team which rate applies when arranging your visit.

How long will diagnosis and repair take?

Timing depends on the equipment, symptoms and testing needed. Some repairs can be completed during the visit when the required part and time are available. A special-order part, additional labour or a larger repair may require another appointment. Your technician will explain whether work can be completed during the visit or needs a return appointment.

Does an equipment warranty cover the visit?

Coverage depends on the equipment, its age, the manufacturer’s terms and the cause of the problem. Parts, labour and diagnostic work may have different coverage. Share your warranty information so the team can review it. If a replacement part is covered by warranty, its cost is deducted from the repair total.

How do I decide between repair and replacement?

Consider the system’s age, condition, repair history, efficiency and comfort performance alongside the repair cost and replacement options. A diagnostic provides findings and a written repair quote to help you compare the next steps. AirZone can also help you explore replacement equipment when that is appropriate.

Is a replacement quote the same as a diagnostic?

A diagnostic investigates a problem with equipment you already have. A replacement quote helps you plan a new system. If your current equipment is not working and you want to understand the cause or repair options, request a diagnostic service visit. If you are planning new equipment, request a replacement quote.

Tell us what’s changed

Have the equipment type, model and any error message handy if you can. Let us know when the problem began and whether it affects one room or your whole home.
