Pre-Installation Guide: Preparing for Your New HVAC System

Congratulations on taking the first step toward improved comfort and lower utility bills!

Upgrading your heating and cooling system is an exciting investment, and a smooth installation starts with a little preparation and the right expectations. There are only a handful of days in the life of your equipment that are absolutely crucial: Design day, Installation Day and Routine Maintenance! The right execution of these events will allow you to have comfort and safety in your home for a very long time.

The Importance of Proper Design

A successful installation begins with a proper design consultation.

Before recommending any system, we review your home’s layout, heat load requirements, ductwork, airflow, electrical setup, and drainage needs. This ensures the system selected is truly suited to your home and comfort goals — not just a “standard replacement.” Buying HVAC is not like purchasing a refrigerator, there is not plug in style option. Be leery of any company that does not want to visit your home for a quote.

A thoughtful design helps avoid comfort issues, efficiency loss, and premature wear.

Choosing the Right Equipment

There is no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to home comfort.

The right equipment depends on your home, your lifestyle, and your budget. Choosing a system without considering these factors can lead to noise, uneven temperatures, or disappointing performance.

**Check out our “Buyer Guide 101’s to ensure you are well versed in your equipment choice**

Before installation, it’s also important to confirm the payment method that works best for you. This may include arranging financing, taking advantage of cash discounts, or confirming credit card or e-transfer plans ahead of time. **NOTE** Financing plans require approval prior to installation date.

Leading Up to Installation

Once you sign your estimate through our easy online system, our entire team is notified and the process begins.

We will:

  • Confirm your installation date
  • Review your preferred payment method
  • Discuss the estimated installation time

You can help the day run smoothly by preparing your home:

✔ Clear work areas around the equipment
✔ Create safe paths from entry points to work zones
✔ Ensure backyard access if outdoor equipment is involved

On very hot or cold days, you may wish to slightly pre-heat or pre-cool your home, as there will be a temporary interruption during installation.

It’s also important that someone is home — especially toward the end of the day — for a final walkthrough.

Your System Designer (Home Comfort Advisor) remains available throughout the day for any questions that may arise.
